The process

Step 1

Paneling

The foundation for a good Turbo Liner® treatment is always a floor plate. For this, we use 9 or 12 mm high-quality plain birch plywood. We glue and screw this down. After that, it depends entirely on the type of treatment whether we also panel the walls. If walls are included, we always use a 4 or 6 mm birch veneer. Whichever treatment you choose, the paneling is included in the price. Door panels, wheel arch paneling, or a ceiling panel can be requested optionally. But of course, we also install those with care.

Step 2

Plastering and caulking

We fill all drill holes, seams, and other irregularities in the floor and walls with special filler to achieve a smooth finish after coating. The Turbo Liner® coating precisely takes the shape of the surface being sprayed. Therefore, a super-smooth substrate is the key to a super-smooth finish. We seal all seams around the paneling to ultimately create a seamless, waterproof container that even meets HACCP standards.

Step 3

Pretreat

The surface to be sprayed must still be prepared by mechanically sanding to roughen the top layer of the paneling and to smooth the puttied parts. After that, the loading space will be made dust-free and special seals will be applied over the small openings in the bodywork.

Step 4
Apply primer

In itself, polyurea has good adhesion to bare birch, which we normally use to panel the floor, but it shouldn't just be good, it should be ultimate! That's why we roll the floor with an epoxy layer specially made for Turbo Liner®. An additional reason we apply this layer is to seal the substrate so that any gas in the wood cannot create gas bubbles in the coating. After a night of drying this primer layer, you have a substrate that nothing can compare to.

Step 5
Packing and masking

The vehicle is carefully wrapped to prevent damage to the paint and to ensure that no coating ends up where it shouldn't (overspray). Masking is also done. This is done to determine the height to which the coating should be applied (low, medium, high, or full). In addition to tape, a special cutting wire is carefully applied along the line where the coating should end, so that at the end of the process, we can cut through the 2 to 3 mm thick layer of coating.

Step 6

Coating

After the primer has dried overnight, the spraying of the loading area can begin. This is done with a two-component high-pressure machine and an airless gun. The two separate components are first preheated and then brought to an airless gun via a heated hose package, where they are then compressed together under very high pressure (135 bar) when the trigger is pulled. This immediately creates a reaction from which the plastic coating forms within seconds! The material hardens after 2 to 3 seconds, so it must be sprayed precisely. First the corners, and then strip by strip, layer by layer.

7
Step 7

Misting

Once the floor is eventually covered with approximately 3 mm of coating and possibly the walls and ceiling with 2 mm of coating, it's time for a small inspection. To prevent any irregularities, a light sanding is done in between.
But then it's time to mist. This is done by carefully applying coating splatters from a distance with a mist spray. We do this with a special stroke of the gun, ensuring the mist reaches everywhere and is evenly distributed. This creates the characteristic robust Turbo Liner® look that makes the space look beautiful and gives the surface an anti-slip quality.

Step 8

Unpacking and assembling

After the coating has been applied, the cutting wire is carefully pulled through the coating everywhere. Then everything is checked, and in the case of small irregularities, some touch-ups can be made. Finally, the whole is neatly cleaned, and the rest of the car can be unpacked. Time to drive it out of the spray booth.

Step 9

Make use of it!

After the coating is applied, the cutting wire is carefully pulled through the coating everywhere. Then everything is checked, and in the case of small irregularities, some touch-ups can be made. Finally, the whole is neatly cleaned, and the rest of the car can be unpacked. Time to drive it out of the spray booth.
